Canada has announced the results of the Express Entry Draw for foreign applicants seeking permanent residency through the Provincial Nominee Program. Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) sent invitations to select foreigners to apply for permanent residency through the Provincial Nominee Program under the Express Entry system.

Canada’s first Express Entry draw for 2025, the first round of invitations in the new year, targeting provincial nomination candidates, resulted in 471 ‘invitations to apply’ for permanent residency, with a CRS score requirement of 793, up 66 points from the previous PNP draw

Foreign nationals seeking to settle in Canada can apply for Canadian Permanent Resident status under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), which allows them to reside, live, and work in a certain province or territory.

Every two weeks, the Canadian government holds selection events for Express Entry applicants. On January 7, 2025, 471 Express Entry invitations were issued to eligible foreign nationals, with the lowest-ranked candidate receiving a CRS score of 793. The date and time of the round was November 25, 2024, at 16:06:45 UTC while the Tie-breaking rule was November 25, 2024, at 16:57:27 UTC.

If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.

The previous draw under the Provincial Nominee Program was conducted on December 16, 202,4 when 1085 Express Entry invitations were issued to eligible foreign nationals ranked among the first, with the lowest-ranked candidate receiving a CRS score of 727.

Canada Express Entry is a program for skilled immigrants seeking permanent residency in Canada that is administered by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) through various programs such as the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Provincial Nominee Programme.

The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is created for workers who have the required skills, education, and job experience to contribute to the economy of a certain province or territory while becoming permanent residents of Canada. Each province and territory has its immigration policy that targets various demographics, such as students, company owners, skilled workers, and semi-skilled workers.

The Canadian government uses the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to rank candidates based on age, education, work experience, and language ability, with each Express Entry draw’s cut-off score influencing the overall score, even if the lowest-ranked applicant receives an ITA for permanent residence.

The numbers in this table reflect the total number of people in the pool a few days before an invitation round. The score distribution may change as people submit new profiles and other profiles expire. The table numbers not in bold are a detailed breakdown of the bold number immediately above.
