Koreans visiting the U.K. will enjoy much quicker immigration procedures from next summer because they can use ePassport gates.
Travelers passing through ePassport gates do not have to stand at the counter while an official checks their paperwork. Instead, sensors and face-recognition cameras compare the physical traits of travelers with the biometric information in their passports.
At present only European Economic Area residents can use ePassport gates in the U.K., but from next year citizens of Australia, Canada, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Singapore and the U.S. can also use them at Heathrow Airport and 13 other ports of entry.
