One of the country’s most exclusive addresses is in lockdown as scores of police hunt up to 15 ‘illegal immigrants’ who jumped off a lorry.

There is a heavy police presence at the Wentworth Estate in Surrey following reports between 10-15 ‘illegal immigrants’ were seen ‘hanging off the back of a lorry’ before entering the private grounds.

Officers are working alongside a dog handling unit and police helicopter to track the group – two of whom were caught hiding up a tree.

The container lorry is understood to have been travelling from Dover along the A30 at Egham towards Sunningdale in Berkshire.

According to one onlooker up to 15 people were ‘hanging off the back of the lorry before running into the estate.’

The Surrey and Sussex Police dog unit tweeted: ‘Report of a number of suspected illegal immigrants running away from a lorry. Officers from Runnymede Police attended and caught two following a foot chase.

‘[Police dog] Olly attended and tracked to a further two hiding up a tree.’

A spokesman for Surrey Police told MailOnline: ‘Approximately 10-15 number of people were seen leaving a lorry.

‘Police attended including dogs, and the helicopter was dispatched. The driver is being spoken to and at this moment in time no arrests have been made.’

Houses in the exclusive enclave can fetch up to £25 million and neighbours include Middle Eastern royalty and business tycoons.

Formula One supremo Eddie Jordan and musician Gary Newman own properties at Wentworth.

The late Bruce Forsyth also owned a home on the estate, which is a stone’s throw from the internationally renowned Surrey golf course’s 12th fairway where players like Rory McIlroy play every year.

Sir Elton John and Sir Cliff Richard have previously lived the area.

In May 2015, a group of ten suspected illegal immigrants were arrested after they were found hiding in the boots of brand new £70,000 Maseratis on their way to a British dealership from an Italian factory.

Nine adults and a child, believed to be from Vietnam, were detained in the luxury sports cars, which were being carried on the back of a car transporter in Egham, Surrey.

The transporter had just pulled up outside the Maranello Maserati dealership when officers swooped on the vehicles.
