THREE illegal workers have been found working at an Italian restaurant in Corsham.
Acting on intelligence, Immigration Enforcement officers visited La Piccola Italia yesterday afternoon (Wednesday) at around 1.30pm.
Two men, aged 22 and 25, and a 22-year-old woman, all from Albania, were found to have entered the UK illegally and are currently in immigration detention awaiting deportation.
The restaurant, which opened at the end of 2016, was served a Civil Penalty Referral Notice.
A spokesman for the Home Office said: “The notice warns that a financial penalty of up to £20,000 per illegal worker found will be imposed unless the employers can demonstrate that appropriate right-to-work document checks were carried out, such as seeing a passport or Home Office document confirming permission to work.
“If proof is not provided, this is a potential total of up to £60,000.”
La Piccola Italia’s manager has been contacted for a comment.
