A Vietnamese woman working at a Hull nail salon has been arrested after she was found to be a failed asylum seeker.
The 44-year-old woman, who was working at Stylz Nails on Rensburg Street, was arrested in the morning of Tuesday, July 3, by immigration enforcement officers.
The Home Office said it arrested the woman after carrying out an intelligence-led operation. It said the woman has been detained while arrangements to remove her from the UK are made.
If an asylum claim has been rejected, the said asylum seeker is said to be refused asylum, or a failed asylum seeker.
Some failed asylum seekers are allowed to remain in the UK temporarily, some return home voluntarily and some are placed in immigration detention before being deported.
Stylz Nails is being investigated further by the Home Office, the government department responsible for immigration.
Immigration enforcement is part of the Home Office responsible for enforcing the UK’s immigration laws by conducting “visits” to homes and businesses.
