The officers descended on the Bayleaf, in East Reach, Taunton, yesterday evening (Thursday, November 8) following intelligence information.

A Home Office spokesman said: “Immigration checks found that four Bangladeshi men were in the UK illegally, three aged 44, 39 and 34 had overstayed their visas and a 44-year-old had entered the UK illegally.

“All four men are in immigration detention pending their removal from the UK.”

He added that businesses employing individuals with no right to work could be hit with a fine of up to £20,000 per illegal worker.

He said: “This will be imposed unless the employer can demonstrate that appropriate right-to-work document checks were carried out, such as seeing a passport or Home Office document confirming permission to work.”
